Marlene Bezich's Pastel "MY Grand Ole Boy" was awarded Honorable Mention in Suburban Art League's Open Juried Show held in the Syossett-Woodbury Community Center,Woodbury, NY.. The show will run until June 23.

Lisa Argentieri's watercolor painting "Waiting" won First place in the professional division for the Long Island Arts Alive Poster Contest on June 8, 2013. http://www.artsaliveli.org. Lisa's work was also exhibited in the World's Largest Tattoo convention held this weekend at the Nassau Coliseum

Donna Moraff* was recently awarded First Place at The Phoenix Gallery Portrait/Figure Show -- Pastel portrait, "Black & White" in March. Donna was awarded Second Place at The Phoenix Gallery Spring Awakenings Show -- Watercolor Floral on stretched canvas, "Glorious Glads" in April. She also had a Solo Show at Deer Park Library in March and April and at the West Babylon Library in March and April.

Celeste Mauro is exhibiting her art work at the Northport Library June 1 - 29. This wonderful collection of colorful watercolors and collages are among Celeste’s most recent work. Seascapes and landscapes as well as architectural studies are some favorite subjects; many works are based on scenes in or around Northport. Marlene Bezich's Pastel entitled "My Grand Old Boy" was awarded an Honorable Mention at the South Bay Art Association's Membership Show at the Pheonix Gallery in Bellport. The exhibit will be open May 30th thru 12:00 pm June 2nd.

This July LaMantia Gallery in Northport pays homage to award-winning watercolorist and Art League instructor Ward Hooper* with a retrospective exhibition spanning 20 years. The opening reception is July 13, 7-9pm. Gia Schifano has 8 pieces in "The Winner's Showcase" at the Mill Pond House Gallery in St. James. 6 artists 6 different styles. Gia's paintings are all landscapes reflecting the beauty of Long Island. The show runs through June 15th.

Robert T. Bloom, Photographic Artist, will be exhibiting his artwork at the Shelter Rock Public library, Albertson, LI NY during the months of July and August 2013. In addition, Robert’s creatively edited image of the barn at Bayard Cutting Aboretum, Great River, NY has been selected to grace the Arboretum’s Farm Newsletter, Volume 2 Issue 8, May 21, 2013. Emerging artist Lia Ali's "Blue Infinity", a show of watercolors and stained glass paintings of Long Island seascapes will be on view May 30 at hipster hotspot the DL, 95 Delancey St. in NYC. Lia combines colors and nostalgic notes of memories and expression in her works. 

Lisa Argentieri is involved in the Martin Viette Nurseries' “Flower Power” themed fundraiser to benefit the Interfaith Nutrition Network on June 14, 2013 between 5 - 8PM at Martin Viette Nurseries Inc. in East Norwich.
Lisa will have 2 paintings in the silent auction and is donating 2 hand-painted shovels to this fundraiser.

Ennid Berger is participating in a two-woman show titled "The Elusive Image" May 11 - June 19 at the South Huntington Public Library's Alfred Loen Gallery. Opening reception is May 11, 2-4pm.

Art League instructor Stan Brodsky* is part of the AB-EX/RE-CON: Abstract Expressionism Reconsidered exhibit showing at the Nassau County Museum of Art through June 16. On April 27 at 3pm, independent curator Kenneth Wayne, Ph.D., presents a talk on Stan Brodsky and his current work in abstract expressionism. Susie Gach Peelle* has been selected as the Town of Oyster Bay's "Woman of Distinction" in the category of Arts for 2013.

Steve Martin will be creating two cats for the 2013 Cat-n-Around Catskill Festival in Catskill, NY. This years festival will feature 34 cats and 13 dogs. The decorated cats and dogs will be displayed on Main Street from Memorial Day to Labor Day and then auctioned off for charity later in September at "The Gala". Three of Nanette Fluhr's* paintings are part of a six-city national museum tour of American Realist Painting in China. This will be the first tour of contemporary American realism in China, and marks an important moment in the resurgent field of realist painting. The China museum tour opened at the Beijing World Art Museum in September of 2012, and will travel to ­the Dalien Modern Museum, Hebei Provincial Museum, Zhejiang Provincial Museum, Hubei Provincial Museum, and the Shanghai Art Museum. The expected total museum attendance for this tour is over one million people, over a period of 15 months. Nanette along with several of the participating artists accompanied the works to the opening exhibit in Beijing, where they participated in panel discussion.

Dan Brown is celebrating his 90th year in a one-man show of his sculptures and paintings in a variety of subjects and media. The exhibit will run August 28 through September 30 at the Huntington Arts Council's Main St. Petite Gallery in Huntington. Happy Birthday Dan!
