Notations 21 Project

  This international traveling exhibition celebrates the aesthetic and graphic beauty of
contemporary illustrated musical scores as detailed in Theresa Sauer's book "Notations 21".  

The gallery displayed upwards of 60 pieces, some original to the Notations 21 book, and others more recently incorporated into the exhibit.

The Art League of Long Island celebrates the remarkable talent of local visual artists.
Exhibition juror and noted landscape painter April Gornick screened 500 works of art and selected 65 artists to participate in the exhibit.

Earth & Water:  An Exhibition of Ceramic Arts and Watermedia

This visually exciting exhibition presented the work of eight contemporary Long Island artists who create in either clay or water-mediums offering viewers an opportunity to compare the individual approaches to subject matter and material, and discover new connections and contrasts. Susan Bird, Riccarda De Eccher, John (Jack) Fink, Tina Folks, Katherine Hiscox, Barbara Karyo Grossman, Deborah Katz, and Bill Shallalies were exhibiting artists.

The exhibit pairs Sandra Benny and Richard Vaux, a husband and wife team of internationally acclaimed local artists who express their shared love of nature and their own unique impressions in this exhibit celebrating the natural environment.

In the Art League of Long Island's first juried photography exhibit, photographers from the tri-state area were challenged to submit their interpretation of cultural diversity. Of the approximately 250 works submitted, exhibition juror Joseph Szabo selected 63 photographic works for display in the Jeanie Tengelsen Gallery.

This exhibit featured the paintings of Lance Corey and his friend,Malcolm Blair, whose works share a similar artistic sensibility,experimentation and abandon—both joyous and ferocious. They were joined by another friend, jeweler Deborah Dudley Max.

What happens when you gather a group of local artists who share insights, critique one another, and support each other in their craft?  You find yourself with a talented group of dynamic contemporary artists called the "The Critique Group of Long Island", whose goal is to bring their works to higher leveles of professional accopmlishment.  Critique Group members and exhibitors:  Ennid Berger (founder and director), Barbara Hyman, Deborah Katz, Ellen Hallie Schiff, Fran Roberts, Ginger Balizer-Hendler, Janice Sieber, Joanne Klein, Judith Aronow, Laura Powers-Swiggett, Linda Ruden, and Sylvia Harnick.
