Gallery Lecture with Pamela Ford - Face to Face: The Enduring Art of Portraiture
Portraits are works of art that represent the likeness, social status and psychological states of individuals and groups and can be found in many world cultures. In this talk Ms. Ford will lead the audience on a discussion of portraiture from Egyptian and Roman tomb paintings and Chinese court portraits to Robert Scott Duncanson and Berenice Abbott, Lorna Simpson, Cindy Sherman, Lucien Freud and Andy Warhol, with a focus on how artists convey aspects of their subjects' lives through their choice of materials and compositions.
Lecture Fee is $8.
