Patricia Shih

After receiving her degree in painting Patricia Shih continuously exhibited in California, winning awards with the Society of Western Artists and being accepted by the largest art gallery in the city. Soon she joined the faculty of the Academy.

In 1979 she moved to Huntington where she taught in the continuing education department of Nassau Community College. Four months after moving to New York her paintings were chosen for the “Best of 1979 Anniversary Show” at Woman art Gallery in Manhattan. After that followed many other exhibits including shows at Kata Gallery and the National Art Center in Soho, and the Young Realists Show at Harbor Gallery in Cold Spring Harbor. Her work has appeared in publications such as Hsintu Magazine and The New York Times, which called her “a realist with a romantic touch.” Ms. Shih was one of only 22 artists out of 150 entrants invited to show at the prestigious juried Long Island Invitational show at C.W. Post. Of those 22 she was one of 6 artists reviewed by The New York Times, and a photograph of her painting “The Comb” was the only one spotlighted to illustrate the article.

Patricia Shih is also an award-winning singer/songwriter who has worked with Bonnie w Raitt, Pete Seeger, and Tom Chapin among others.
