COURSE DESCRIPTION

This new class focuses on developing your artistic voice through the lens of landscape painting. Artist Shain Bard, known for her signature landscapes, leads this exploration into trees and their symbolism, guiding students through the limitless ways to observe and imagine the subject. Students work on independent, self guided projects from their own inspiration, making this a wonderful introduction to painting, and equally suited for more experienced students interested in zeroing in on a specific subject. Beginners learn to construct paintings from the bottom up, taking their own source material photographs, and using drawing techniques to hone compositions. Advanced students benefit from individual critique, and gaining insight into Shain’s tried and true techniques developed over a lifetime of creating. Individual instruction supports each student’s project as they develop their own unique style through the study of trees in the landscape. Bring to first class: an 11" x 14" or 14: x 17 drawing pad, 2b pencils and eraser. List of paints will be distributed at the first session.
