COURSE DESCRIPTION

Polymer Clay is a versatile plastic compound used by artists and craftspeople all over the world. In this introductory workshop students develop a basic knowledge of the properties and potential of polymer clay as an artist’s medium through a lecture, and demonstration of a “cooperative” polymer clay cane. A polymer clay cane is a log of polymer clay that's made with a design that runs the entire length of the log. Slices from the cane reveal a design and all slices from the cane will have identical designs. When slices of polymer clay canes are arranged to make a field of flowers, this can be called millefiori. The cooperative clay cane is a collaborative process for up to 10 students to create a complex cane from each of their simple canes. Registrants will receive an outlined lesson plan and full materials list for the lesson, and a recording of the workshop to follow along on their own. Live workshop will include a Q&A.
