An Afternoon with Eileen Walsh’s Students at the Art League of Long Island’s Strolling Gallery

Eileen Walsh, a retired art teacher has been mentoring three promising artists with developmental disabilities for many years.  It was their greatest wish to show their work in a real gallery setting. Donna, Stephen, and Ahren celebrated their artistic achievements at the pop-up art event at the Art League of Long Island on July 7, 2022.

Donna’s acrylic painting of an idyllic canoe trip with a back-drop of the mountains and the setting sun captures the quintessential late summer day on the water’s edge.  Stephen’s stylized acrylic painting of “Red Headed Girl” is inspired by his fascination with graphic art. Stephen has been studying with Ms. Walsh for eight years and just graduated from high school.  Ahren’s fondness for dogs aptly captures the puppy’s adorable eyes in his acrylic painting titled “Puppy”.

The Art League of Long Island was proud to host this special moment for the artists and their families. Kudos to these amazing artists and to the instructor who mentored such talented individuals!
