Go APE 2021 Advanced Placement Exhibition

Attention All Long Island High School Art Teachers and Administrators

15th Annual Go APE Advanced Placement Exhibition at the Art League of Long Island
January 29 through February 12, 2022
Reception:  Saturday, February 12, 2022  | 1:00pm – 3:00pm

For the fifteenth year in a row the Art League of Long Island is pleased to offer the opportunity for High School Advanced Placement art students throughout Suffolk and Nassau counties to exhibit their work in an AP Art exhibition entitled, “GO APE”. Each school may submit up to 4 works to be apportioned as the teachers see fit among Drawing Portfolio, 2D Design Portfolio and 3D Design Portfolio. We hope to represent a wide cross section of media:  Drawing, Painting, Printmaking, Mixed Media, Sculpture, Photography, and Graphic Design. This exhibition will feature talented art students working across Long Island and will give the students the opportunity to view artwork created by their peers in a professional gallery setting.

In that AP students are aiming at careers in the fine arts, presentation appropriate to a professional gallery setting should be stressed. Simple frames, properly wired (no saw tooth hangers), white or off-white mats preferred. Matted, unframed work must be shrink-wrapped with foam core backing.   To encourage more attention to appropriate framing we may be giving a special award for “Best Presentation.”

Awards will be given at the reception scheduled for Saturday, February 12th, from 1:00 – 3:00 pm and will honor outstanding work created in each two and three-dimensional content area. The students will remove their works on February 12th, following the reception.

To ensure space for your students’ work we are asking teachers to reserve space and submit one application for each work submitted.  To apply please answer all questions on the reservation/application form at https://forms.gle/nBXXknZG8rPYoZJE6 .  Framing instructions and labels are posted below.   Please download the files, print, fill out and attach the identification labels to the submitted works, one on the front and one on the back before dropping off at the Art League’s gallery.

Drop off date for artwork: Tuesday, January 25, 2-7pm

Pick-up date:  Saturday February 12, immediately following the reception.

Fee for each student:  $30 – IMPORTANT: IF CONTRACTING THROUGH BOCES PLEASE INFORM THE ART LEAGUE WHEN SUBMITTING STUDENTS INFORMATION. THANK YOU!

Reservations will be taken up to January 18 or until the gallery space is filled, whichever comes first.  Gallery labels will be made from the information in the application.
