July 2015

Happy Summer! It’s the middle of summer and we have lots of upcoming workshops and events to keep you cool and creative.

New Art League instructors David Peikon, Bart DeCeglie, Anne B. Gunthner, William Graf and Mark A. Fay have joined the roster of our outstanding faculty and will be teaching landscape painting, studio oil painting, “realistic” drawing and painting, “real life” illustration for promotional materials, and pastels respectively. You may have met William Graf back in June at Art in the Park, demonstrating his illustration techniques in the Art League’s main tent. William, along with his colleagues Denis Ponsot and David Miller, were kind enough to donate their time at the fair. Many thanks to these instructors for making the effort to help make the fair a success.

Coming up in August is a summer series of Professional Development Workshops for Artists. Ashley Werter’s How To Photograph your Artwork takes place August 2, Debbie Wells’ The Artist’s Self-Promotion Checklist takes place August 6, and the last summer workshop by Sue Allen Clayton is How to Write an Artist Statement on August 22. More information is below.

Summer Art Adventure and Summer Portfolio are well under way. Check in on our facebook page for photos of the happy campers. Some upcoming sessions still have openings, so if you would like to sign up your child for any remaining sessions you can still do so.

Bill Mittler’s exhibit Curved Lines opens on Saturday, the 18th! Be sure to come to the gallery to view the dramatic presentation of his large-scale abstract works on view until August 2.

Browse through our virtual catalog – with more than 70 workshops happening between now and the end of August you are bound to find something that fills your creative craving!

Best,

Charlee Miller,

Executive Director, Art League of Long Island
