Many thanks to our wonderful Art League community for coming out in full force to support our recent Open House, held August 24. The Open House offered visitors a peek at the goings on at the Art League, coinciding with the opening reception of the ALLI Instructors’ Exhibition 2013. ALLI instructors Beth Drucker, Gea Hines, Libby Hintz , Mary Nagin, and Stephanie Navon Jacobson demonstrated their artistic techniques to the many attendees at the open house. Thanks also go to Jeff Frohman of Murphy’s Music for providing the delightful musical performances by Patrice Mullen, Janice Buckner, and the Artesian Guitar Quartet of James Erickson, Laura Lessard, Harris Becker, and Andrew Falino. Our 18th year of Summer Art Adventure just wrapped up and we were happy to welcome 350 young artists and teens to a summer they will never forget! Creative art projects tailored to specific age groups provided for a stimulating and enriching experience. Kudos to Janet Ganes, Director of SAA, Christine O’Malley, Assistant Director of SAA, and Richard Ganes, Teen Portfolio instructor, for their hard work and flawless efforts in making this year’s program such a success.
September brings many exciting events to the Art League’s gallery and studios. Join us on September 15 for an art reception and lecture to benefit the Arthritis Foundation’s “Women on the Move” program. On September 20, the Art League’s “Digital Art Experience” introduces the relatively new cutting edge art form with live demonstrations by David Miller and Brian Richardson, as well as an artists’ reception of works by young, emerging digital artists on display in the Strolling Gallery. And after a summertime hiatus, the long awaited Art After Dark returns September 27. Art After Dark is a great opportunity to learn more about the Art League while enjoying the company of arts-minded individuals. Peruse the website to learn more about these events.
