August 2017

The summer of 2017 proved to be an exciting one for the kids and teens who participated in our summer programs. Young artists in Summer Art Adventure and Teens in the Fashion FUNdamentals and Pre-College Portfolio Prep programs had a great time exploring new artistic mediums and genres. Teens in the Fashion and Portfolio programs were invited by the Anton News Group to submit artwork for the cover of their Back-to-School August 23 and 30 issues. Two students were selected for the covers and eight more were recognized for Honorable Mentions. Congratulations to all the contest winners!

Many thanks to our generous supporters who answered our Special Spring Appeal. If you have not done so already, please consider making a donation to the Art League. No matter how large or small, every dollar makes a difference when the many band together for a common cause. More than 2,200 students have enjoyed taking classes and workshops in the past year, and the Art League tries hard to keep costs down in order to provide all students with excellent art instruction and the proper environment in which to grow as artists. The Art League is also a hub of creative activity with art exhibits, art openings, art talks, lectures, and other events – all events that partly depend on funding from the generosity of our supporters.

And please remember just because summer ends, your artistic adventure doesn’t need to end. With fall right around the corner, it’s time to plan ahead for art classes and workshops. In addition to our day-time sessions, the fall catalog offers many evening and weekend options for students and working folks.

The Art League’s annual Open House is Saturday, August 26 from 11am to 3pm. Each year at this time the Art League throws its doors wide open and invites the general public into the art studios for a glimpse of art in the making. Meet the Art League’s instructors as they demonstrate art projects in a large variety of subject areas. Our instructors not only teach, they do, so catch the Instructors’ Exhibit in the gallery and prepare to be impressed. We welcome you to join us, bring your family and friends!
