DIRECTOR’S CORNER

July 2024

Dear friends,

As we begin to look for ways to keep cool this summer, remember there are plenty of opportunities to do so right here at the Art League of Long Island.

We have a plethora of new workshops and classes happening this summer from Smart Phone Photography to Printmaking.  There’s always an opportunity to learn a new skill and try a new medium.

Join us in the return of the Try-Night Experience, Friday, August 16th from 6-9pm.  You have a choice between two 60 minute experiences – Printmaking & Ceramics or Jewelry-Making & Collage with refreshments!  It is perfect for a Friday date night or to literally try your hands at something new!  You can purchase tickets here.

Interested in seeing more demonstrations?  Our Annual Summer Open House will be held on August 24th from 11am-2pm.  Save the date, stop by, and see multiple demos throughout the afternoon and visit the Instructors Exhibition Opening at the same time!

Consider applying to become a Resident Artist.  Established in 2018, this program is designed to provide a select group of Long Island based artists with skill-building and community based opportunities to further develop their careers in the visual arts.  Our application is now open for the 2024-2025 program.  Click here to apply – it is open to anyone and everyone!

Volunteer with us!  We are always looking for help in the gallery, for demos at special events, and in the office.  Active volunteers can receive a free membership, a complimentary class, and tickets to special events based on their amount of volunteer hours.  Click here for more information and to download the application  and let us know how you’d like to help!

And finally, make sure to keep your membership current and donate to the Art League today.   We cannot do it without your support.

Sincerely,
Marianne Della Croce

June 2024

Dear Friends,

Thank you again for all of your continued support to the Art League of Long Island.  As we continue to rebound from our reconstruction, I want to continue to express my appreciation for all of the ways that you have supported us.  I thank you for your flexibility in some of the shifting dates and times of your classes.

Some of you have provided important feedback on the classes we currently offer and potential offerings that we are looking to introduce to you.  Your constructive feedback is so important to us so that we are able to continually challenge your abilities.  We recognize that you’ve continued to maintain your membership and you’ve explored new classes offerings as well.  You’ve also entered a piece in our members’ exhibition and visited our Jeanie Tengelsen Gallery to view a new show.  We hope you enjoyed our beloved Art in the Parking Lot event this past Sunday.  We had over fifty artists join us to sell their pieces and our instructors provided demonstrations on their craft.

As we continue to move into the summer, please continue to show this support.  Join us in celebrating Pride this month with free educational workshops sponsored by TD Bank on June 22nd.  Please keep your membership current, participate in our exhibition receptions, enroll your children in our Pre-College Portfolio Summer Intensive Program or our Summer Art Adventure Program.  We have new workshops each month, as well as your regular favorites.

I look forward to seeing you soon!

Best,
Marianne Della Croce
